STATE COLLEGE, PA. - Magnum Broadcasting has announced that starting in June it will be airing "The Songwriter's Showcase" on Sunday nights at 7pm as a series of live original music performances, interviews and discussions in various local establishments to create an avenue for and foster original music in the local area.
The format of the show will include one or more local artists in a mixed interview and performance setting, as well as a discussion format with industry experts and interaction with the live audience and a segment containing original previously recorded and produced music.
Bob Timney, founder of The Songwriter's Showcase in 2006, will host and produce the show in a totally new venue.
"I am excited to bring exposure to some of the outstanding artists here in town and in the surrounding communities," he said. "There is a lot of talent and energy in these people and they want to share it with others. Where before we would record them and podcast the show, now
105.9 Joe FM has made it possible to give these class acts some well-deserved radio airtime in addition to other exposure."
Timney also said he hoped the word gets out and the initiative helps bring the creative community together, providing a longstanding network for performers of original music.
The show will be be broadcast live on location on Sunday evenings at 7pm and originating at a rotating list of places around town. There will also be nights for the under 21 songwriters in appropriate establishments.
